Light energy healing is important in integrative medicine, but let’s first look at the roots before we get into specifics about types of light energy healing.
Integrative medicine is a practice that reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focuses on the whole person, and treats each individual as unique. Instead of labeling them as a disease with cookie-cutter remedies, integrative medicine at its best is respectful of the patient’s inner knowledge and involves them in the search for root causes of the illness.
These integrative medicine approaches involve knowledge of indigenous healing systems and philosophies in order to offer the best of all worlds for the patients’ benefit. In my personal practice, we bridge science and spirituality, enabling patients to reach optimal physical and emotional health.
My experience has shown that to achieve permanent healing results faster, it’s necessary to go deeper than the physical, so clients can access their inner healing energy, that intuitive wisdom which we know lies deep within.
As physicians, we are taught to be purely science and evidence-based. Although this protects the patient from ‘cranks, salesmanship, and guesswork’, it speaks to the science rather than the art of medicine. perhaps at the expense of truly creative options in diagnoses, as therapeutics and drugs become the sole new gods. ‘Healing’ has become a dirty word, and yet perhaps what we all crave? Let’s go into this in more detail!
There are many types of light energy healing, but what they have in common is that they are focused on restoring health and energy, typically using a form of energy that travels as a wave. Here are some examples of light, color, and crystals used to perform energy healing.
Light Energy Healing
I use light extensively in my own work – I believe that at the Quantum level, our bodies are made of light, and light can heal us. It’s a very powerful tool in the practice of energy medicine. My primary tool for light energy healing is visualization – it’s proven very valuable as an adjunct to other medical treatments.
Using Visualization To Heal With Light
Light energy is involved in the nuts and bolts of our cellular metabolism, signaling all enzymes, acting as messengers in our body. Our cells are even more sensitive to one colour over another by a factor of thousands. Very exciting recent light energy work has shown that in the heart of our cells, our DNA actually radiate Light. Energy in the form of thousands of photons – tiny packets of the smallest units of light – shine through our tissues into the environment. These tiny packets of energy are bidirectional, carrying information both from, and back to the DNA.
When we as therapists use guided visualization to help a patient “shine” healing light onto their bodies, we’re helping them trigger healing right from the DNA level. Every cell in their body can be “excited” into a healing state. This doesn’t replace traditional therapies, but it certainly does aid them in promoting more rapid healing.
Aura Healing is an example of light energy healing, although for some practitioners it crosses over into our next category, color energy healing.
Manipulating your aura requires a healer who can sense or visualize it and help you clear mental and emotional detritus that gets in the way of healing. It operates a spiritual level. For some healers it transcends location, so a healer can work with you even from a distance.
Color Energy Healing
Chromotherapy (Color Healing)
Chromotherapy is a form of holistic healing that uses the visible spectrum of light and color to affect a person’s mood and physical or mental health.
Color healing has a long history, though modern science has only recently caught up. We’ve known for millennia, for example, that exposure to sunlight was good for us. Science has now shown that sun exposure causes our bodies to produce vitamin D, vital to our health.
But chromotherapy doesn’t stop here. Chromotherapy uses a broad range of individual light frequencies, or colors, to promote healing. Certain colors can influence our feelings and emotions. Others improve sleep.
Crystal Energy Healing
Cultures worldwide have honored the healing power of crystals for thousands of years. Crystal healers consider Amethyst a general healing crystal. Vibrational energy healing by laying stones on certain parts of the body or keeping crystals close by is the most common form of crystal healing. At times, crystals may absorb or shield against negative energies, and may require cleansing. This involves immersing them in running water or sunlight.
You may hear crystal healing called Lithotherapy, which comes from the Greek words ‘lithos’ (stone) and ‘therapeia’ (healing). This is the art of treating health issues using the properties of minerals and crystals.
Finding Your Path
You may find that one type of healing works better for you than others, or a combination of them. So if you don’t feel any effect from one, don’t be afraid to branch out and explore others. The energies in your body are unique, and what works for you can be fundamentally different from what works for others.
